Why do we?
I see that a lot of people used to (most probably still are) using facebook as the social damage tool. They take it on their exes, friends, family etc. And then they are the same people that go to mass, that supposedly pray, that like to help others (in the eyes of the society) and posts beautiful quotes as if written by themselves as if they are living them!!! Grow up. We might not know it, or pretend not to but someone is watching, he is recording everything and the prof will be used in our favour or against us when He calls us back to where we belong.

Zewgt' iqlub - tahbita wahda
Fil-bidu taz-zmien,
Mara misterjuza fuq ritratt,
mhabba li nasal biex insejhilha fatat,
fil-guf iffurmajt ghalija u bdejt titrabba,
it-tifsira nieqsa ta' x'inhi tassew l-imhabba,
Sirt inhobbok fl-invisibbli,
demm li ma jidhirx li mela dawn il-vini,
sabiex il-gisem bla ruh li kelli nieqsa,
dik li int lili kellek ittini,
Gejt int minn fuq ghax baghtek ghandi is-Sultan tas-smewwiet,
ma' ridtx hafna elogji,
baghtek ghandi bil-mohbi,
fil-hemda tal-lejl,
meta f'did-dinja kien hawn biss skiet,
u qalli preciz kien Hu dawn il-kliem,
"Jien Sid il-holqien kollu,
li naghmel jien hu dejjiem,
Ha ntihielek, hu hsiebha, rawwimha sew fl-imhabba,
ser tkunu intom zewgt' iqlub,
imma t-tahbita tibqa biss wahda"
Telqek f'idejja tant u tant vicin,
f'mument li sthajjilt li madwari, kien bhal waqaf il-hin,
kont nhares lejk biss mill-boghod,
nahseb fik u gismi bhal imxarrab fix-xita
kien jibda jirtghod,
kollox hekk beda,
hars minghajr kliem,
li sawwarli s-sisien ta' hajti,
kompla jinbena fuq dak li bnejt jien,
nhares lejk mit-tieqa,
mara ferhana li tahbi d-dieqa,
u bejn kull qatra li thammiglek il-hgiega,
minghajr ma taf f'qalbi qabbadtli huggiega,
u l-pittur fija jpitter,
is-sakranazz jisker,
il-muzicist jikkomponi,
ix-xabbatur jitla fil-gholi,
il-poeta u l-awtur fija jikteb,
linji li fid-destin tieghek ileqqu bhad-deheb,
biex juruk li din mhix xi qalb ohra,
biex juruk li bhalek tassew m'hemmx,
u jigri x'jigri f'hajti,
ghax dak li diga hemm miktub mhu ser jithassar minn hadd,
ktibtlek erba linji biex nurik li nhobbok,
b'dik it-tip ta' mhabba li ma tintemm QATT.

Imhabba ta' veru
Harstu kienet lejn l-ajruplan li kien ghadu kemm ghadda. Ridet tarah, xtaqitu. Imma fl-istess hin, ma setghatx turih xi thoss ghalih. Ghafset dawk it-tmien numri li bhal donnu mohhha kien dara issa. Kien facli tiftakru in-numru tieghu. Min fuq in-naha l-ohra instema' dak il-lehen li kien jghaqqadha jekk ikun hemm xi bicca mkissra, li jerfaghha jekk hi taqa'. Lehnu biss kien igeghlha thossha zaghzugha mill-gdid, kien bhal donnu vibrazzjoni li jghannaqha minghajr biss tarah. Imma Lilu biss kienet trid u minnu ridet aktar.
"Hello" instema' jghid hu.
"Nixtieq narak" qaltlu, "nixtieqek iddahakni mill-gdid, nixtieqek thaddani u rrid nesperjenza it-tghanniqa tieghek. Qalbi mherrija bl-ugigh li jien qatt ma'nista nuri." Kienet qed tahsibha jekk turihx, jekk tghidlux dak li kienet qeghda thoss, ghax min gie qablu tant wegaghha li l-wegghat kienu xi kultant jergghu jfeggu minghajr lanqas biss taf kif hi. Iddecidiet li turih. Ftakret fi kliem Nirvana fl-ittra li kienet kitbet ghal funeral taghha stess.
"...dak li ghandek taghmel, ghandek tghid ghidu...ghidu llum u minghajr dewmien." U kompliet hi "Ghax illum stess taf ikun tard".
U hekk iddecidiet. Il-kliem li kien ser johrog minn halqha kien ser jibdel kollox. Hajjitha u l-mod kif tahseb fuqha. Ridet li qalbha tfur bl-imhabba mill-gdid. Hasset li hu biss, bhal karattru minn xi storja seta jwennisha u jkisser dak is-seher.
"Ejja ha nigi fejn trid int, ghidli fejn"
Kienu joqghodu minuti il-boghod minn xulxin u ghalekk iddecidew li jiltaqaw nofs triq.
Hu wasal qabilha. Kellu sigarett mdendel f'halqu. Xaghru nokkli mrembel. B'dik in-naqra lehja, xtaqet tobrox qalbha, sabiex tillixxja il-wegghat tal-passat, - li ragel fuq ragel bena u ghawwar f'dak il-bir tant profond, fejn ir-riflessjoni ta' dik il-mara li xi darba kienet bilkemm kienet ghadha tidher - bilkemm biex imbaghad hu jkun jista jtiha wicc gdid.
Harset mill-gdid lejh. Aghmlilha sinjal biex tirkeb. U hi ghamlet kif qalilha. Hassitu diga qed jiddeciedi id-destin taghhom. Hassitu ragel jaf xi jrid. Hassitu diga qed jipprotegiha.
Ghannqitu u qabditlu wiccu bejn idejha. U hu b'tant hlewwa imma wkoll misthija hares lejha. Wiccu hmar.
"Taf thobb?" saqsitu hi meta l-ahhar ghajta tas-serduq kienet ghadha qed tidwi.
Hi stagghbet biha nnifisha u bil-kliem li hareg minn fommha. 'Ghala saqsejtu hekk?' hasbet bejnha u bejn ruhha.
U ir-risposta li taha kienet dak - li skond hi - ir-risposta li kull mara tixitieq li ghallinqas darba f'hajjitha tisma.
B'rasu baxxuta, u xi ftit misthi qalilha b'ton helu imma sod u b'konvinzjoni, "Ma rrid nghid xejn mizjud ma' dak li diga ntqal. L-imhabba ta' veru hija dejjiema u m'ghandiex bzonn spjegazzjoni. Taf tadgher u tahfer. Taf thenn. Hija imhabba tant kbira li thossok tal-genn. Imhabba - li anke jekk tiblieh jew tixjieh u titkemmex, jew bhal ritratti ta' dari, int ma tibqax sabiha tlellex - ghalija tibqa dejjem sabiha, bhalma diga ghidtlek fjura bir-riha. Jien hekk naf inhobb. Hadd qatt ma tani ic-cans, jew jiena ma hallejt qatt lil xi hadd jasal tant qrib ta' qalbi. Jien naf inhobb" temm jghidilha " imma nhobb biss b'imhabba ta' veru"

My thoughts....
Sometimes we think about the past and because of all the hurt and pain caused by other we cry. We also tend to cry when we sometimes think of what lays ahead, in the future, as this pain, the same hurt won't let us think or perceive things, achieve dreams in a positive way. But in doing so, we are skipping living this moment, the present and enjoying the people that really care for us and through our pains and our hurts see the real us. Good morning, afternoon, evening, night and day to all, wherever you are, wherever you'll be, whatever you're doing.....Jack.

the doorstep of the end of time.
I suggest that you read this poem with this music: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sz1idnMQFOA
Tks Jack Vella
I've seen the stars floating in the see,
I could see a reflection and it wasn't me,
I could see the angels flying around,
I could hear the music,
yet there was no sound,
and on the ground,
and meadows of flowers,
I could hear stories being told,
children being fed,
and another card that was fold.
and in the mist and cold of yet another night,
I could see my image,
I could hear my plight,
Leave me not, for without you I am vain,
we'd still have to show our love,
and repeat it again,
and in the meadows of flowers,
I see you dangling your crown,
Let me be your knight,
but don't let me kneel down
let me fight and show you,
the courage I'm made of,
for beauty might shine,
but it won't last,
and then time passes,
and you won't see your past,
for our love is stronger
than that of fairytales,
our heart is brighter
and can't be measured by scales,
for I might die or even you,
but we'd be remembered as the ones,
who made the world's roof,
the brightest blue,
cause I was yours in my lifetime,
so you were mine,
and we'd still be remembered till,
and on the doorstep of the end of time.

from the heart of a humble writer...
Every time I speak with you or hear you
or in my dreams see you,
or glance towards you,
my one castle that has my heart,
my woman from which I can't be apart,
and I know no one can ever take your place,
be with me in my success and in my disgrace,
be near me now cause I need you,
Every time I speak with you or hear you
or in my dreams see you,
or glance towards you,
my one castle that has my heart,
my woman from which I can't be apart,
and I know no one can ever take your place,
be with me in my success and in my disgrace,
be near me now cause I need you,
don't let me fall,
don't let me crawl,
cause you know without touching me what I am made of,
you know without seeing me what in reality I feel,
I tried to run away from all that love of yours,
but I reached a point I can't conceal,
I reached it and I know there is no return,
I'd rather see you in heaven
even if I had to burn,
don't ask me how, where or why,
but if love is there don't let it die,
I don't want to run or maybe hide,
I want to be the one by your side,
for I know you'd understand,
I can't really see you with another man,
maybe our love needs to have a renewal,
maybe we thought it was gold,
when in fact a jewel,
let it up, now let it rise,
let our love known
and do not disguise,
for my love for you,
before I knew you was sincere,
I hope that with these words,
'm making myself clear,
for words might glide, crawl and evaporate,
but I won't stop loving you,
even when late,
cause I know you can love me,
for the man in me,
for being who I am,
for it's me that you see,
and there will be no bible,
and when you need me,
there I'll always be.
don't let me crawl,
cause you know without touching me what I am made of,

will never cease...
In every thought of mine,
I see you,
the more I need to draw back,
I need you,
the feelings I feel in my heart,
are just nothing without you,
for you say I own a sweet talk,
but without you I can't really walk,
In every thought of mine,
I see you,
the more I need to draw back,
I need you,
the feelings I feel in my heart,
are just nothing without you,
for you say I own a sweet talk,
but without you I can't really walk,
you are the thought that in the morning wakes up with me,
to fill my glass, to set me free,
and you are my desire,
a woman that burns my heart on fire,
you are the water that I need,
you are my hunger's every feed,
for I try to find words,
and be romantic,
but without you my words are simply pathetic,
cause you breathe in my
you give me air,
in every space and time when I really need you,
you're always there,
and when time will pass or maybe fly,
on my dying bed, I'll cease to cry,
for the moment I might be blessed,
if I have correctly guessed,
that like in a fairytale,
your love for me's without a scale,
so once again,
you'd be there,
no to give me flowers,
but to fill me with showers,
of your love on the increase,
such love that will never cease.

F'gheluq is-sena minn mewtek Nann...
Nanna Ganna,
fuq is-siggu ilni sen' issa ma narak,
bhal hemm il-vojt tieghek,

real skies
aren't painted blue.
Like the poet needs the pain,
like the vast oceans and seas
need the rain,
like the rainbow is nothing without the colours,
like all the kids are the no-ones without their mothers,
like that I am without you,
for you are the light when the darkness comes,
aren't painted blue.
Like the poet needs the pain,

need the rain,
like the rainbow is nothing without the colours,
like all the kids are the no-ones without their mothers,
like that I am without you,
for you are the light when the darkness comes,
you are the vast universe
to show that my love is immense,
you are that one missing needed piece,
you are what makes my life complete,
and in your words I find comfort,
in your love I find myself,
I am now happy to be me,
an' I wish to be just no one else,
for I have discover that beauty lies in you,
I have discovered that the real skies aren't painted blue,
I have discovered that storms dont come only with clouds,
I have discovered that without rain,
that signifies pain,
you cannot live completely
and start again,
be happy with what God gave you
do not change, but always improve,
for if you go away from the real you,
it's yourself that you'd finally lose,
and when love comes in any form accept it,
when someone tries you,
prove yourself,
for when you stand up and you'd do it alone,
you'll realise there was no one else,
Thank God all throughout the way,
for love comes and there's a price to pay,
and remember that no matter what,
God will give you another sun,
for there are many people,
but for him you are just one,
look at the old ones holding hands,
and see the wrinkles of their smiles,
for they loved truly and they still do,
and I'd like to get older just loving you,
for I might become ugly and diseased,
but I shall never lose one word of yours,
you give my mechanical heart some grease,
you pump blood in it for it to survive,
for you love and your whole body,
I shall live and I shall strive,
for I know there might be many,
but there will never be anyone like me,
for I might get older by day,
but we will all, somehow do, finally,
and when the stars will stop shining,
I shall have the last and I will give it to you,
and you shall smile getting older,
and discover like me, that the real skies
aren't painted blue.

Story of the day: The Professor and the student.
The following is an exchange between a student his professor on the existence of God:
Professor : You are a Christian, aren’t you, son ?
Student : Yes, sir.
Professor: So, you believe in God ?
Student : Absolutely, sir.
Professor : Is God good ?
Student : Sure.
Professor: Is God all powerful ?
Student : Yes.
Professor: My brother died of cancer even though he prayed to God to heal him. Most of us would attempt to help others who are ill. But God didn’t. How is this God good then? Hmm?
(Student was silent.)
Professor: You can’t answer, can you ? Let’s start again, young fella. Is God good?
Student : Yes.
Professor: Is satan good ?
Student : No.
Professor: Where does satan come from ?
Student : From … God …
Professor: That’s right. Tell me son, is there evil in this world?
Student : Yes.
Professor: Evil is everywhere, isn’t it ? And God did make everything. Correct?
Student : Yes.
Professor: So who created evil ?
(Student did not answer.)
Professor: Is there sickness? Immorality? Hatred? Ugliness? All these terrible things exist in the world, don’t they?
Student : Yes, sir.
Professor: So, who created them ?
(Student had no answer.)
Professor: Science says you have 5 Senses you use to identify and observe the world around you. Tell me, son, have you ever seen God?
Student : No, sir.
Professor: Tell us if you have ever heard your God?
Student : No , sir.
Professor: Have you ever felt your God, tasted your God, smelt your God? Have you ever had any sensory perception of God for that matter?
Student : No, sir. I’m afraid I haven’t.
Professor: Yet you still believe in Him?
Student : Yes.
Professor : According to Empirical, Testable, Demonstrable Protocol, Science says your God doesn’t exist. What do you say to that, son?
Student : Nothing. I only have my faith.
Professor: Yes, faith. And that is the problem Science has.
Student : Professor, is there such a thing as heat?
Professor: Yes.
Student : And is there such a thing as cold?
Professor: Yes.
Student : No, sir. There isn’t.
(The lecture theater became very quiet with this turn of events.)
Student : Sir, you can have lots of heat, even more heat, superheat, mega heat, white heat, a little heat or no heat. But we don’t have anything called cold. We can hit 458 degrees below zero which is no heat, but we can’t go any further after that. There is no such thing as cold. Cold is only a word we use to describe the absence of heat. We cannot measure cold. Heat is energy. Cold is not the opposite of heat, sir, just the absence of it.
(There was pin-drop silence in the lecture theater.)
Student : What about darkness, Professor? Is there such a thing as darkness?
Professor: Yes. What is night if there isn’t darkness?
Student : You’re wrong again, sir. Darkness is the absence of something. You can have low light, normal light, bright light, flashing light. But if you have no light constantly, you have nothing and its called darkness, isn’t it? In reality, darkness isn’t. If it is, well you would be able to make darkness darker, wouldn’t you?
Professor: So what is the point you are making, young man ?
Student : Sir, my point is your philosophical premise is flawed.
Professor: Flawed ? Can you explain how?
Student : Sir, you are working on the premise of duality. You argue there is life and then there is death, a good God and a bad God. You are viewing the concept of God as something finite, something we can measure. Sir, Science can’t even explain a thought. It uses electricity and magnetism, but has never seen, much less fully understood either one. To view death as the opposite of life is to be ignorant of the fact that death cannot exist as a substantive thing.
Death is not the opposite of life: just the absence of it. Now tell me, Professor, do you teach your students that they evolved from a monkey?
Professor: If you are referring to the natural evolutionary process, yes, of course, I do.
Student : Have you ever observed evolution with your own eyes, sir?
(The Professor shook his head with a smile, beginning to realize where the argument was going.)
Student : Since no one has ever observed the process of evolution at work and cannot even prove that this process is an on-going endeavor. Are you not teaching your opinion, sir? Are you not a scientist but a preacher?
(The class was in uproar.)
Student : Is there anyone in the class who has ever seen the Professor’s brain?
(The class broke out into laughter. )
Student : Is there anyone here who has ever heard the Professor’s brain, felt it, touched or smelt it? No one appears to have done so. So, according to the established Rules of Empirical, Stable, Demonstrable Protocol, Science says that you have no brain, sir. With all due respect, sir, how do we then trust your lectures, sir?
(The room was silent. The Professor stared at the student, his face unfathomable.)
Professor: I guess you’ll have to take them on faith, son.
Student : That is it sir … Exactly ! The link between man & God is Faith. That is all that keeps things alive and moving.
The student was Albert Einstein.

As
I made my steps towards the corridor, I could somehow feel that this
was going to be the last time that I would walk up all the length of
that corridor. It was past the visiting hours, and it was all so quiet. I
could feel the deep yet lone breaths of several of the people that were
there. All with a different story to tell me. All, with a history that
spanned hundreds of decades. She was there as well. Right at the same
spot that I left her earlier in the morning. She was breathing heavily,
her lungs were fighting to make the most out of the air that there was
in the room. It was room 21. The ward was the yellow one. Ward number 7.
It all made more sense to me. Everything in there was somehow linked to
my destiny.
I could remember the one time we went to the
Wind's mouth in the northern part of the island of Malta. How could I
ever forget that?
With the sun shining in her green eyes she
looked at me. She looked so serene. It was the start of her sixth month
of pregnancy. She grabbed a handful of soil and started playing with it.
The cold January breeze was caressing our faces. It was also fighting
with the soil, trying to blow it away from her hand.
"You know
what?" she told me, "I feel abandoned. I feel that the world is
collapsing on top of me. I feel abandoned. And if it wasn't for you, I
would never feel the strength to keep on fighting. I've had enough". She
paused and I could see the pain her words were causing her. "You know
Luke" she said looking at me, "if you feel abandoned, walk away from who
is making you feeling so".
An extract from the first book of a
trilogy entitled "One year of love" out in the US at the end of
September, that I am currently writing.
